Postcards from Camp - Old Stories New Voices Youth Camp

Texas youth are gathering for a week at Fort McKavett to learn about the rich cultural heritage of Texas. "Old Stories, New Voices" provides students the opportunity to experience Native American, Hispanic, African-American and Anglo contributions to the history and culture of Texas!

Greetings 2011 campers, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters!

We hope you're all starting to get excited for camp! The staff certainly is, and we're busy getting things ready for this year's campers. During camp, we'll use this space to post daily blog entries and photos that will let everyone at home know about the fun things we do each day at camp. Blog entries are usually posted in the evening, and depending on time and availability, we'll try to upload a batch of photos during the day. Entries will be cross-posted on our facebook page too, so please "like" us and get up-to-the minute camp news in your facebook feed. If you would like to leave a comment for your camper to let them know how proud you are, we'll do our best to pass them along during mail call.

In the next few days, we'll be preparing a mailing for everyone that will include emergency contact numbers and email addresses, a camp schedule, and another copy of the packing list in case you misplaced the original. Campers will receive their company assignments when they arrive at camp.

We're looking forward to meeting all of our new campers this year. We are going to have an amazing week at camp!
